Romeo + Juliet (1996) is an American romantic-drama film adaptation of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, directed by Baz Luhrmann and starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes. It is a modernized telling of the play, retaining the original Shakespearean dialogue, but with swords replaced by guns with such brand names as "Sword" and "Dagger."
